Introduction
At “Manurbhav,” our core mission is to provide assistance and support to the disadvantaged and marginalized segments of our society, with a special focus on children and women. We firmly believe that every individual is entitled to basic human rights, including education, healthcare, and livelihood support. Unfortunately, a large portion of our society is deprived of these essential amenities. In response to this pressing need, we have dedicated ourselves to making a positive impact and improving the lives of those in need.
Background
A small group of determined women from the Central Soil Conservation Colony in Dehradun initiated the formation of “Manurbhav” nearly 15 years ago. Their first-hand encounter with the deplorable conditions faced by children in a government school fueled their commitment to providing assistance to underprivileged children. Recognizing the challenges of securing substantial financial assistance, the women gathered usable clothes, stationery, and books from their homes, which were then delivered to the children in need. This initial experiment’s success encouraged more members to join, leading to the provision of new uniforms, stationery, and books through collected membership fees. Motivated by their achievements, “Manurbhav” expanded its activities to encompass various initiatives, including supporting the education of handicapped children, empowering impoverished women through skill development, raising awareness about healthcare and social issues, and promoting environmental protection.
Aims & Objectives
“Manurbhav” is driven by the following primary objectives:
Child Welfare: We strive to promote the education, healthcare, and overall development of children, with a focus on those from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds.
Women Welfare: Our organization is committed to empowering impoverished and destitute women, providing them with opportunities for self-reliance and personal growth.
Assistance to Handicapped Children: We extend support and assistance to children with disabilities, ensuring they have equal opportunities for education and personal development.
Awareness Programs: We organize awareness campaigns and programs on healthcare, drug abuse, environmental protection, preservation of cultural values, literature, and other relevant issues, aiming to foster a sense of responsibility and consciousness in society.
Modus Operandi
“Manurbhav” diligently works towards achieving its objectives through various means. While leveraging its own resources, the organization also collaborates and networks with other like-minded organizations. We firmly believe that even individuals with limited resources can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need. Love, compassion, and the desire to serve hold more value than financial resources alone. Over the past 16 years, “Manurbhav” has been actively involved in directly assisting individuals or collaborating with other organizations to bridge the gap between those in need and the available resources.
Activities & Achievements
Children Welfare Activities
To uplift children from impoverished families, “Manurbhav” has adopted several neighboring government schools in Dehradun. Through these initiatives, we have been able to provide numerous benefits, including:
- Ensuring access to education by encouraging children from poverty-stricken families to enroll in school.
- Supplying uniforms, books, stationery, bags, shoes, and winter clothes to children in need.
- Organizing extracurricular activities such as competitions, sports events, and cultural programs, fostering holistic development among over 700 children annually.
- Identifying promising and talented children and offering scholarships and financial assistance to support their educational journey.
- Implementing the “Swajan Smriti Kalash” scheme, allowing individuals to contribute towards the scholarships of underprivileged children, honoring their loved ones’ memories.
Women Welfare Activities
Recognizing that economic freedom and self-reliance are crucial for the well-being of underprivileged women, “Manurbhav” has conducted various training programs and initiatives, including:
- Providing training in cottage and small-scale industries to enhance their skills and generate income.
- Encouraging women to create handicrafts for income generation and financial independence.
- Organizing health awareness programs and promoting active participation in disease eradication campaigns, such as those targeting tuberculosis, polio, and HIV/AIDS.
- Conducting awareness campaigns against drug and alcohol abuse, using street shows and expert talks to educate communities and combat addiction.
Preservation of Cultural Values and Literature
“Manurbhav” actively contributes to preserving cultural values and promoting literature. Noteworthy initiatives in this domain include:
Collaborating with social organization “Dhaad Mahila Manch” to honor war widows and relatives of Kargil War heroes, recognizing their sacrifices and resilience.
Organizing literary programs and events to commemorate the work of renowned writers and poets, instilling a sense of pride and appreciation for literature in the community.

“Manurbhav” maintains its bank account at Punjab National Bank, Kaulagarh Road Branch, Dehradun (A/c No. 0110122047). The organization ensures transparency and accountability in all financial operations by maintaining audited cash books.
